About this event
We have been hosting this Ramadan community celebration for the last 15 years, bringing communities together and providing an opportunity for people to learn about other faiths.
In previous years this has been done in segments, with different communities and in different areas. Last year more than 2,000 people celebrated Ramadan in Weston-super-Mare.
This year we have decided to bring all the communities together in a single, central venue, in what will be the biggest ever Ramadan celebration in Somerset.
About Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic lunar calendar. It is a month of fasting, worship, service, communal gathering, and spiritual development. During this month Muslims don’t eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset. Fasting in Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. This holy month is observed by millions of Muslims around the world.
