Old Station Car Park, Old Furness Road, Coniston LA21 8HU, United Kingdom
Description
An Unforgettable Lake District Adventure
About this event
Embark on a breathtaking adventure in the enchanting realms of the Lake District. Join us for a day of wonder as we explore the captivating heights and mesmerising vistas of the Old Man of Coniston, one of the most emblematic peaks in this pristine landscape.
From its majestic summit, the Old Man of Coniston boasts commanding views of endless emerald valleys, ancient woodland, and crystal-clear lakes that shimmer under the sun’s touch. Every stride along its trails immerses you deeper into the stunning symphony of nature’s untouched beauty and tranquility.
Our adventure begins in the quaint village of Coniston, a charming blend of traditional stone cottages, cosy inns, and welcoming locals. From there, we’ll ascend along well-trodden paths, past relics of the area’s rich mining history and cascading mountain streams that tumble into shimmering blue tarns. We’ll pause to drink in the intoxicating panoramas from Low Water, a jewel nestled in the cradle of the surrounding fells.
Then comes the exhilarating ascent to the 803-meter high summit. Breathe in the crisp mountain air as you behold the awe-inspiring panorama unfurling below. On clear days, you’ll feast your eyes on views stretching from the Irish Sea to the Pennines, encompassing the glorious expanse of the Lake District National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As we descend, there will be time to reflect and relax, rejoicing in the shared experience of a day well-spent in one of England’s most beautiful landscapes. The Old Man of Coniston, with its rugged trails, stunning vistas, and rich history, offers a hiking experience that will touch your heart and remain in your memory forever.
This event is suitable for all with a reasonable level of fitness, and guides will be available to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
This is a great opportunity to meet likeminded hikers & adventurers from across the country and enjoy a scenic social trek as part of a professionally organised event with qualified mountain guides.
All are welcome regardless of religious background or ability. Whether you’re a seasoned mountaineer or a first time walker, we invite you to join us.
