About this event
Inclusive Muslim Discussion: Niyyah – Setting Intentions
Join for an inclusive discussion on the topic of Niyyah (an Arabic word meaning purpose or intention), as we set our intentions for 2024. We will explore personal intentions, and guiding intentions for The Muslim Social Justice Initiative (MSJI), a new non-profit working to build an inclusive platform for British Muslims and their allies to challenge social injustice.
This event aims to create a safe and welcoming space for individuals to come together and explore the significance of intentions in Islamic heritage, and reflect how this can guide the work we want to achieve to create a more socially just world. This event is open to Muslim young people and their friends, allies and supporters aged 18-30.
We actively encourage participation from those who are most marginalised, and welcome everyone to share their thoughts, experiences, and questions. Our organisation is queer affirming, feminist and anti-racist. If you need any further information, or have accessibility requirements please email: info@msji.org.
We have both free tickets available, and the option to purchase a ticket with a donation of £2.50 to support us in delivering our work. We ask that attendees register for their tickets, or get in touch with us if this is a barrier.
This will be an inclusive and affirming safe space: there will be zero tolerance to any forms of harassment including but not limited to racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia and Islamophobia and we reserve the right to ask any individual to leave the event.
