Co-working day: Sustainably Muslim & Two Billion Strong X Hulm Club

Calling all Muslims who work in the environmental sector and beyond to meet and connect at our Muslim friendly co-working day at Poplar Union!

There’ll be board games, refreshments and lots of opportunity to meet with Muslims that work in the environmental sector or who are interested in it.

Sustainably Muslim CIC is an organisation that aims to inspire & empower Muslims to serve the environment & their community through education & social action. Two Billion Strong (TBS) is a global network based out of the UK that sits under the umbrella of Sustainably Muslim CIC. The primary objective is to enable Muslim activists to coordinate, collaborate and network. TBS will enable like-minded individuals to identify local and global issues that need to be addressed and create projects to tackle those issues.

At the Hulm Club, they get together for Muslim-friendly co-working sessions and other events to empower and uplift our community. Their mission is to provide a physical space for our community to connect, collaborate, and create in a Muslim-friendly environment.

Please note that there is a Cafe on site, and benches outside of Poplar Union if you would like to come earlier than 11:30am.

3pm: Hear a short presentation from Zainab Mahmood, founder of Ahista Stories a South Asian sustainable fashion community. She is also Green Fashion Editor of It’s Freezing in LA! magazine and has written for award-winning publications like gal-dem and The Guardian on the intersections between fashion, faith, climate and capitalism. She uses her social media platforms to share simple actions for young people to tackle climate change.

We are encouraging all attendees to bring their own mugs, and a prayer mat if you’d like to pray.

There are multiple mosques nearby for Jummah Prayer, closest one is a 10 min walk from Poplar Union: Burdett Estate Mosque, E14 7UD.
