Have you dealt with losing a loved one? Ever been confused by the rites and rituals surrounding Muslim funerals?
We all deal with loss at some point in this life. Altough you can never be fully prepared for these moments, there are steps we can take to familiarise ourselves with the practical steps of washing and burials of our loved ones and communities.
Those moments where we witness one transition into the next life are very important and it is considered a communal obligation (fard kifayah) to support others in this. If you're looking to educated yourself to be a pillar of support and knowledge in those tough moments, this workshop is for you.
Ustadha Umma Zahra will gently guide us through detailed explanations and interactive, practical demonstrations of washing and shrouding the deceased, with chances to ask questions along the way.

Ustadha Zahra Umm Eman
left the UK with her family in 1998 to study in Damascus, Syria, focusing on Arabic, its disciplines, and Tajwid. She later travelled with her family to Tarim, Yemen, where she studied at Dar al-Zahra seminary and privately, primarily under the daughter of the late Mufti of Tarim, Habib ‘Ali Mash-hur b. Hafiz (r).
During her time in Tarim, she coordinated the educational programme for the Khadija Umm al-Mu’minin School of Qur’an Memorisation, working alongside the principal Qur’an teacher and utilising the Sudanese method of memorisation through the traditional wooden tablet (al-lawh).
Alongside her husband, Shaykh Faiz Amir, she founded The Ribat Institute in 2009, where she taught Arabic, Adab (etiquette), and Sira (Prophetic biography), while also facilitating youth and community initiatives. Ustadha Zahra
has regularly delivered ghusl workshops for sisters. She has
studied this area of knowledge and received ijazah in Tarim, Hadramout.

Our Ta Scholarship fund is oversubscribed and we prioritise it for our online courses. All ticket sales will also go towards MBF for this event. As a result, we will not be able to offer scholarships for this workshop on this occasion.
