Dawrah al-Hadith is an intensive, final-year programme found in many seminaries in the Muslim world as part of the alimiyyah studies. It focuses on the study of the six major Sunni hadith collections (Sihah Sittah) focusing on manhaj al-takhrij, and providing students with in-depth textual analysis, commentary, and includes ijazah in hadith transmission (certification) upon completion complimented with a series of maqra’as, or readings of the respective hadith compilations. Students will study the texts of hadith with commentary exploring the most prominent scholastic interpretations of the hadiths in terms of their linguistic, theological, spiritual, and juristic implications. The programme is slightly broadened to include an advanced study of Uloom al-Hadith, making the programme resemble a takhassus in hadith and designed for students of knowledge seeking a deeper understanding of Hadith methodology, critical analysis of narrations, and the scholarly principles underlying the major Hadith compilations.
Sheikh Akram Nadwi
will deliver a series of lectures on the Manhaj of the Sahihayn, exploring the methodologies of Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim. The sessions will examine selected examples demonstrating why the two Imams differed in their conditions, approaches, and narrations, with detailed study of narrations described as: ????? ?? ??????? and ????? ?? ????.
Sheikh Abdullah Al-Judai’
will focus on the Manhaj of the Four Sunan (Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa’i, and Ibn Majah), with particular attention given to the science of ?Ilal al-Hadith (hidden defects in Hadith). His lectures will provide insight into the critical methodologies employed by the scholars of Hadith in identifying subtle weaknesses and understanding the precision of the Muhaddithun.
