Beyond the Wedding: Five conversations every Muslim should have before and during marriage.
About This Event
Five conversations. One afternoon. Foundations that last a lifetime.
Most people spend months planning a wedding.
Very few of us are taught how to prepare for the marriage that follows.
Regardless of whichever stage of your relationship you are in (searching, engaged, married), there are several conversations and dynamics that shape the way you interact with your significant other.
Conversations about expectations.
About money.
About family.
About roles and responsibilities.
About the future you're trying to build together.
Yet many couples only have these conversations when they're already facing conflict by which time it is already too late.
Beyond the Wedding is a practical, discussion-based afternoon intensive designed to help you approach these conversations with greater confidence, clarity and intention.
Rather than focusing on financial advice or generic marriage tips, we'll explore the conversations that matter most and give you practical frameworks you can continue using long after the workshop ends.
Is this workshop for me?
? If you're preparing for marriage/searching for a partner...
You might be asking yourself:
How do I know if we're financially compatible?
What conversations should I be having before I commit?
How can I identify potential areas of conflict before they become problems?
This workshop will help you ask better questions and make more informed decisions before marriage.
? If you're engaged...
Marriage is getting closer, but perhaps you're realising there are conversations you haven't had yet.
We'll help you explore expectations around money, provision, family responsibilities and the practical realities of building a life together.
? If you're newly married...
The wedding may be over, but real life is only just beginning.
If you're learning how to navigate decisions together, communicate more openly or create healthier financial habits as a couple, this workshop will give you practical tools you can continue using throughout your marriage.
Throughout the afternoon we'll explore five essential conversations.
1. Know Yourself
Understand how your upbringing, experiences and beliefs have shaped the way you think about money and relationships.
2. Communicate and understand expectations
Explore expectations, assumptions and financial compatibility before they become sources of conflict.
3. Plan Your Future
Work through real-life conversations around housing, careers, family responsibilities, children and modern UK life.
4. Protect Your Marriage
Discuss financial safety, healthy boundaries, shared responsibility and recognising unhealthy financial dynamics.
5. Keep the Conversation Going
Learn simple frameworks to continue having healthy conversations throughout your marriage, not just before it.
By the end of the workshop you'll leave with:
? A better understanding of your own relationship with money
? Greater confidence discussing expectations before and during marriage
? Practical frameworks for navigating difficult conversations together
? Tools to identify areas of alignment before they become areas of conflict
? Greater awareness of healthy financial boundaries and shared decision-making
? A personalised action plan for the conversations that matter most
Your ticket includes:
? Your Beyond the Wedding Companion Journal, designed to help you reflect during the workshop and continue your learning afterwards.
? A tailored resource based on your stage of life:
Pre-Nikah Financial Guide (for those preparing for marriage or engaged) OR
Money Date Framework (for newly married attendees)
? Tea, coffee and refreshments
? Interactive discussions and practical case studies
? Opportunities to connect with others navigating similar stages of life
