Surah Maryam (Online Course)

With Ramadan fast approaching, prepare for the month of the Qur’an by studying Surah Maryam in detail and reflecting on it over this 10-week online programme.

Did you know? Surah Maryam is the only chapter in the Qur’an to be named after a woman. Not just any woman – one the greatest to ever have lived! Maryam/Mary (peace be upon her) is the mother of Prophet Isa/Jesus (peace be upon him), and the first few sections of the chapter are dedicated to them.

About the course: A full in-depth tafsir and commentary of Surah Maryam in English covering the key stories, lessons & wisdoms. Focus will be on tadabbur (deep reflection) and its tools, and we will touch on aspects of Ulum al-Qur’an (Quranic Sciences). Open to students of all levels and backgrounds.

About the chapter: Surah Maryam is the 19th chapter in the Qur’an and consists of 98 verses. It is a surah full of spiritual gems and guidance and contains the stories of Lady Maryam, Prophet Isa, Prophet Zakariyya, Prophet Yahya, Prophet Ibrahim, and many more.

About the instructors: Ustadh Shabbir is one of the co-founders of Faith Space UK and is the regular spiritual facilitator. He is a Hafidh of the Qur’an, Alimiyyah graduate and holds an MA in Islamic Education. Ustadh Farhan is the co-founder of Q-Iman and is a highly experienced teacher of Arabic & Islamic Sciences. He is also an Alimiyyah graduate, and he has an LLB in Law and an MA in Management Consultancy. The instructors will be teaching on alternate weeks.

This course will be delivered online via Zoom every Wednesday over 10 weeks between 6:30pm – 8:30pm (UK). Recordings will be available for students who request them in advance as live attendance is of great importance.
