About the Hike
This is a 6 ½ mile walk starting in Castleton and walking through some of the most admired and stunning parts of the Peak District. Known to be one of the best ridge walks in the country, this Peak District walk gives stunning views over Edale, Hope Valley and even the edge of Kinder Scout.
From Castleton the walk will take us to the summit of Mam Tor, another very famous part of the Peak District. Also known as the ‘Shivering Mountain’, the views from the top of Mam Tor are some of the best in the country and iconic in Peak District landscape photography.
From Mam Tor we will walk up to the top of Back Tor and then onto Lose Hill Pike, all of which have superb views of some of the most idyllic parts of the Peak District.
Our Cause
On 28th October, we will be taking on the Great Ridge Trek Challenge to raise crucial funds for our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
In the heart-wrenching aftermath of relentless attacks on Gaza, over 1,200 precious Palestinian lives have been tragically lost, leaving thousands more bearing the physical and emotional scars of unimaginable pain. A chilling sense of dread now looms over this besieged region as hospitals, once beacons of hope, are being overrun by the fallen, turning into grim, overflowing morgues.
The anguish in Gaza deepens further as its lone source of power flickers and fades, exhausted of fuel to keep the lights of life on. Medical supplies, already scarce, and food, dwindling like the waning hope of the people, are stretched to their limits. Another night brings the harrowing symphony of air raid sirens and terrified civilians scrambling onto the streets in search of safety, their dreams shattered by relentless aerial bombardments.
Within this tiny enclave, home to 2.3 million souls, a suffocating despair takes hold. The once-forgotten borders offer no escape, no respite, as they now bear witness to a complete siege imposed by Israel, rendering electricity, sustenance, fuel, and even the most basic human necessity, water, as scarce as compassion in times of conflict. This siege, cruel and unyielding, inflicts its harshest blows on the shoulders of women and the innocence of children.
Amid this sea of suffering, a ray of hope emerges. “Forgotten Women,” an organization led by women, dedicated to the cause of providing aid and comfort to the countless women and children who bear the heavy burden of this escalating war. As the death toll continues to climb, their tireless efforts become a lifeline, offering a glimmer of humanity in the darkest of hours.
In the midst of the turmoil and heartbreak, let us remember the resilience and strength of those who persist in the face of unimaginable adversity, as we join hands to support the valiant efforts of “Forgotten Women” and stand together against the rising tide of sorrow.
We provide aid to women, delivered only by women
