The Art of Islamic Pattern: Decorate your own wooden coaster.
Folk at Florence Dock, 45 Chatfield Road, London, United Kingdom
Description
The Bar, Tuesday, 8th of August
About this event
Whether you fancy yourself as a budding artist or a complete novice just wanting to try something new, this crafty, creative workshop is open to all.
Residents of Florence Dock are invited to explore the creative discipline of Islamic Pattern, and produce their own bespoke floral design to paint onto an eco-friendly wooden coaster. No experience is needed, and all resources & materials are provided for attendees. Just bring a sense of fun and enthusiasm!
Led by artist and educator Samira Mian, this 2- hour session invites you to explore the practice of Islamic Art for yourself, and discover how patterns of profound beauty, and fine-drawn complexity, can be created through the simplest of means.
Guided by the expert eyes of Samira, you’ll start by using a symmetry and repetition to build your floral pattern, after which you’ll transfer the pattern to a wooden coaster, to be decorated and brought to life using vibrant colored paints. Your bespoke wooden coaster is all yours to keep at the end of the session (…deciding whether to gift it to someone special or keep it for your new home is completely at your discretion… )
Enjoy the opportunity to disconnect from the world and reconnect with creativity.
About Delphine Fortuna
Delphine pulls from a web of life experience to provide mindful and empowering readings. With over 15 years of experience with tarot, Delphine is an impressive reader who can guide you through the labyrinth in a way that feels compassionate and centred.
She completed her first degree in Religious Studies and specialized in Yoga and Tantric Traditions. Her passion for these subjects led her to a tantric ashram in Thailand where she completed her yoga instructor certification.
Mind-body practices within the tantric framework have influenced her worldview immensely. Independently she has also pursued reiki training and attained mastery. These practices have allowed her to explore the energetics of the human body and the world around her, and have nurtured her ability to tap into the undercurrents of people, places, and situations to provide clear and accurate guidance.
Contemplative traditions have influenced her reading style, and her material accomplishments assist in anchoring the spiritual in the mundane.
