Quarry Bank Mill Hike- ISB and SMWG! Raise and walk

Sun, July 28, 2024 (2:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
Quarry Bank
Quarry Bank Mill, Styal Road, Styal, Wilmslow, UK

Description

See some amazing scenery with fellow Muslims and have some spiritual discussions (weather allowing) whilst raising Sadaqah for a good cause!

About this event

Join National Zakat Foundation (NZF), Islamic Society of Britain (ISB Campus North and Connect) and South Manchester Walking Group on a trek to raise much needed funds for the NZF Growth Fund. Earn reward with every step! Hiking boots and water bottle would be best to bring.

This would be raised as soon as possible, on a JustGiving Page that will be set up for you to share with your network (please message Afnaan Siddiqui from the WhatsApp/Telegram group you saw this advertised on as soon as you get your ticket).

This is an idea walk for beginners and relatively easy walk 3/10 difficulty. It is a great chance to see some amazing scenery, see one another and hopefully have some spiritual discussions. We will be walking through beautiful woodland area with gentle slopes and hills, walk past Manchester Airport including a highlight to see the planes as they fly in and fly our of Manchester from a simple viewing platform and some Islamic talks as well as reminders about Zakat and other aspects too.

There is a small fundraising element to this hike where you can get people you know to give Sadaqah. We can help you to set up a fundraising page and suggest you try to raise £200 each if possible. Funds would be for National Zakat Foundation and the walk invites ISB Campus North and Connect as well as South Manchester Walking Group, amazingly coming together for a great cause. The earlier you sign up, the easier it is to reach the target before Hike day! We can help you with facts about the National Zakat Foundation too.

There are toilet facilities at the start of the walk. Whilst the full walk is not suitable for disabled people, there is an easier walk for those who wish to do a shorter walk that is flat and also wheelchair friendly too. Please contact the organisers if you plan to avail this.

You can park for FREE in the car park and walk around in the main grounds for free.

More about NZF

The Growth Fund is your gateway to greater rewards because every £1 sadaqah you donate (or encpurage others to) to the Growth Fund enables us to raise around £6 in Zakat with the permission of Allah (SWT).

This Sadaqah funds our vital Zakat projects team to help Muslims in need. Our biggest project is the Hardship Relief Fund, which provides grants to vulnerable Muslims in the UK who are unable to pay for basic living costs (food and healthcare) and we have a full team that check through applications for genuine need below the Nisab Rate (people apply for Zakat with us every 3 minutes currently).

We also have some of the lowest distribution costs in the sector due to following the Sunnah of giving locally, meaning of every £1, 90p reaches those in need directly and only 10p is needed for distribution.

By supporting the NZF Growth Fund, you will be enabling us to give hope and dignity to your fellow Muslims in the UK. And with the current cost of living crisis hitting our communities the hardest, there’s never been a more crucial time to make a difference to those in need on our doorstep.

ISB

The Islamic Society of Britain (ISB) is a community based charity, organised as a national membership society. Founded in 1990, we were one of the first organisations that sought to bring a uniquely British perspective to Islam. Since then we have been bringing individuals together to inspire the teachings repeated in the Qur’an: to have faith and do good. ISB exists to help Muslims better understand our faith in a contemporary context within Britain.

ISB Campus North
One of two youth groups we have, Campus cater to the needs of 17-26 year olds. Hosting in-person and online masterclasses, study circles, residentials and regional socials in the North, Midlands and South.
