Description

Join for a fun-filled day at this summer fundraising event for Palestinians in Gaza. Children & families welcome, plus everyone else!

About this event

We are collecting for a small number of GoFundMes for Palestinians in Gaza, including those who have links to our Norfolk community. Every story from Gaza is absolutely heartbreaking, but we feel by focussing our support in this way there may be greater impact felt by these individuals.

This fabulous fundraising day will include: – Games with a vast array of amazing prizes, including a treat filled watermelon pinata! – Workshops on various themes from Palestinian pottery to circus skills. Create your own giant bubble wand and make your very own monster box! – Zaytoun stall selling Palestinian olive oil, freekeh, dates and almonds and more! (with local Zaytoun supplier Ian running the show) – Birds of Gaza children’s craft activity (A Parents for Peace stall) – Palestinian colouring and crafts for children – Second hand toys and clothes stalls – Palestinian themed products (flags, stickers, books, and more!)

Please note: Drinks and food will be available to purchase from Redwell throughout the event. We highly recommend their delicious food and drink!

All funds collected will be donated to the chosen GoFundMe pages which will be displayed at the Fete. Please register on Eventbrite and donate an entrance fee if you can (one ticket per party / family is fine)- this will go towards the GoFundMe pages in addition to the activities on the day.

Aya in Gaza (Rachel’s English student) –

Rachel in Norwich. “A few weeks ago one of my students in Gaza, Aya, asked me to set up a GoFundMe for her. As with everyone in Gaza, she is trying to get out to Egypt and has to pay $5000 to get out through Rafah. Of course, there are so many fundraisers right now and no one person’s life is more important than another, but Aya is now very sick and struggling to access medication. The last update she gave me was that she is down to 44k gas a result of a stomach germ which should be very treatable. If anyone feels they could donate something, she and I would really appreciate it – I honestly don’t think we’ll reach the $5000 for her to get out, but any donation may be able to help her pay for medicine that is now very hard to come by. Shukran ktiir- Rachel”

Nanoo’s chairities in Gaza –

Nanoo in Norwich. “Regarding my new friends who ask about the campaign and what we offer, we provide food parcels, medicine, pocket money, milk for children, and special needs for women. We are a youth volunteer campaign. We do volunteer work without any compensation and we serve our families and neighbors, even if it is just a little. We do this work in conditions of war and Ramadan. We have been working since 2014 and everyone trusts us. Regarding how to transfer money, there are many ways: Paypal, Westrion Union. We do this because international institutions do not do their duty and they receive very high salaries at the expense of our suffering. We deliver assistance directly to our neighbors, friends, and the neighborhood in which we live.”

Ibrahim and his family in Gaza –

https://www.gofundme.com/f/ibrahims-kids-need-our-support

From Polly about Ibrahim’s family. ” A couple of years ago, we helped raise money so that Ibrahim could purchase the equipment needed to start a honey business. After one (or two!) bee stings and a lot of hard work , Ibrahim was able to realise his dream amd support his family in Gaza. This was a huge achievement, as employment was almost nonexistent at the time. It was genuinely wonderful receiving the happy pictures of him and his bee keeping business, and seeing how joyful his family was looking. Now, the bee hives have been smashed, his house has been torn apart, and he is sheltering under a home-made tent. Protecting his children as best he can.The journey to Rafa was deeply traumatic. He and his wife used their bodies to attempt to shield their children from the shrapnel and the deafening noise of explosions and gunfire. They directed their childrens’ gazes upwards and away from the decaying, swollen corpses littering their path. But still, they are not safe. Not at all. And they need our help to get out.Please. Help me to help them. Donate. Even if it’s just one pound. That would make all the difference. And please, share this. Help us to save this beautiful family. Help support the wonderful and tenacious Ibrahim to achieve a basic level of safely for his babies. It can feel overwhelming hearing about the atrocities happening in Palestine. I know. But this is one way to save a family. Aside from the fees taken by GoFundMe every penny of this money will go straight to Ibrahim.”
