Join in celebrating the opening of MACFEST 2024 and the launch of a new initiative, MACFEST Arts Awards!
There is something for everyone:
• Welcome speeches; greetings from partners and Muslim women in
different languages.
• Poetry by the Lydia Merrill, Aysha Yilmaz and Amir Arshad.
• Singing by: Gnawa Moroccan Music Maestro Zakaryae
• Performance by: Turkish Folk Dance group.
• Performance by: Nile Arabic School.
• Nasheed by: Whalley Range 11-18 High School.
• Tilavat by: Daniya Nourein, Manchester Sudanese School.
• Art exhibitions and cake cutting.
Hosted by: Sandra Wong, Solicitor.
Welcome address by: Qaisra Shahraz MBE and Ed Watts, Head of
Learning and Engagement, the Whitworth Art Gallery.
Chief Guest: Mrs D Hawkins JP LLB, His Majesty’s Lord- Lieutenant of
