What is the Day of Arafah?

Arafah is the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah – the month in which the pilgrimage to Makkah (Hajj) takes place. Muslims are encouraged to fast on this day, and millions of Muslims and non-pilgrims across the globe mark this blessed and holiest day of the year by fasting from dawn to dusk.

More information about the 10 days of Hajj and tips on how to make the most of them can be found on our blog: https://www.ramadantentproject.com/10-tips-dhul-hijjah/

What is Eid Al Adha?

Eid Al Adha is the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah and marks the culmination of Hajj. On this day, Muslims commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, and give our own sacrifices to help those in need.

What is Open Iftar?

Open Iftar is the flagship initiative of Ramadan Tent Project, a community institution developing the knowledge, understanding and experience of Ramadan and fasting for all.

Since 2013, Open Iftar has connected over 500,000 people across the country at some of Britain’s most iconic cultural spaces, from the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, and Trafalgar Square, to our regional events at Baltic Museum, Bradford’s Centenary Square, Coventry Cathedral and many more!

Open Iftar bridges communities; it is a space in which our commonalities are highlighted, our differences celebrated and human connection is forged. Invitation is FREE and OPEN to ALL.

What is ‘Iftar’?

At sunset in the evening, a prayer called Maghrib is observed, followed by a meal to break the fast. This meal to break the fast is called Iftar.
