Muslims, the Media and Me: Reclaiming our narrative
Al Faisals Restaurant, 140 Stoney Lane, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, B12 8AQ, UK
Description
ISB Connect presents a Being Changemakers event:
Muslims, the Media and Me: Reclaiming our narrative
For graduates and those in early careers, whether you are in the media world or not!
Recently, we’ve unfortunately seen how media narrative can negatively influence opinions, feelings and even action. How has it got to this point? And how can we engage with the media to shift that narrative?
Join us for talks and workshops to explore British Muslims in mainstream media, and how we can reclaim our narrative, with speakers:
Peter Oborne, author
- British Muslims and the Media; The Evolution of a Script
- Muslim Narratives Case Studies
Esmat Jeraj, community organiser and activist
- A Career in the Media
- Our Role; Media Monitoring with Case Studies
And meet other like minded young Muslim professionals with a laid back networking 3-course lunch.
*Limited 25 Early Bird tickets*
