Have you been victim to the all too familiar disappointment of finding THE maxi skirt only to discover a massive slit? Or find a gorgeous maxi dress with long sleeves then you turn it around and the back is all criss cross applesauce?? Layering should be a CHOICE not the default.

Remedy that issue with the Muslim Gorlies Clothes Swap!

A clothing swap event for Muslim women to bring your loved items and accessories that you’re ready to part with and swap for a potential new match. The work of finding something you feel comfortable wearing is over because your fellow sisters have already done the work for you! Yay for sisterhood🤝

What’s the vibe?

This is a drop-in event with allocated hourly time slots which requires in and out flow as there is limited capacity and to keep a good flow of people and items.

There’s no rule that everything brought to the swap has to be long sleeved or maxi. Tshirts, skinny jeans, the works, are all welcome. The priority is to create a space for Muslim women to be able to take part in this activity that tends to isolate us as we are rarely able to find even one piece of clothing. Friends of Muslim gorlies are welcome too, regardless of faith.

  • This is a women only event.
  • Other women may take videos and pictures during the event and as organisers so will we📸
  • We are not responsible for the quality and condition of items brought and swapped

How it works:

Quality over quantity!

Please bring thoughtful pieces, this isn’t an opportunity to clear out your entire wardrobe. Bring something you’re no longer attached to but believe someone else would love.

Please bring a minimum of 1 piece to a maximum of 10 pieces.

What you can bring: Tops, bottoms, jackets, shoes, scarves and accessories.

Simply arrive with your item or items within your time slot and you will be given a card with a number, how many items you bring is the maximum number you can leave with. We’re doing this to encourage thoughtful consumption and to make sure there is a good selection of items for other women throughout the day.

Please bring your own bag with you to take home your items!

Remaining clothes will be donated to local charity shops.

Facilities:

• Bathrooms: There are ladies toilets at Battersea Arts Centre.
• Prayer space: The chillout room located on the first floor can be used as prayer space.
• Accessibility: Battersea Arts Centre is a fully wheelchair accessible building with lifts.
