Artist and educator Unaiza Karim, for a six week journey into the arts and crafts of Muslim lands. Over the course of this programme, your children will be immersed in the world of traditional patterns and motifs found in manuscripts and iconic architecture while learning about the rich history of Islamic art.
The sessions will run on Friday mornings beginning May 17th 2024 at a mobile classroom set in the grounds of Summerfield Stables. Sessions will run from 10:00 AM- 12.30* These hands-on workshops are perfect for children ages 11 and above. The dates and times are designed to accomodate the needs of homeschooled children.
No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun! * Please send your child with a small snack and water to enjoy at break time. All tools and materials are included in the course fees.
About your Tutor
Unaiza is an award winning artist and qualified teacher with enhanced DBS. She holds a Masters degree in Visual, Islamic and Traditional arts from the Princes School of Traditional Arts, London. She has worked as a museum educator in Canada and the UK and is currently working as a freelance art tutor with the Midlands Art Centre, Birmingham.
Drawing inspiration from objects and buildings from across Muslim lands, Unaiza weaves her knowledge and experience of traditional arts practice into unique and engaging workshops and courses for both children and adults.
