A two year academic course for Years 9 and 10 students. This covers the syllabus of AQA GCSE Religious Studies A (8062).
Status: Full AQA GCSE Religious Studies A
Course Dates: September to May
Delivery: Tutorials with homework assigned.
Duration: 2 academic years.
Days & Times: Thursday evenings from 6:30pm – 8pm.
Starting: Thursday 14th September 2023 at 6:30pm-8:00pm
Venue: British Muslim Heritage Centre, College Road, Whalley Range, Manchester, M16 8BP
Course Fees: £200 to be paid over 2 years (£100 each semester).
Exam Fee: £70 (this may increase slightly)
Assessment: All units will be taught in English. Students will be assessed throughout the course. There will be 2 formal written examinations at the end of the course:
1 hour 45 mins – 50% (Islam)
1 hour 45 mins – 50% (Christianity)
A certificate from AQA GCSE examination board will be awarded to students.
Content:
1) Beliefs, teachings and practices of two world religions (50%); Christianity and Islam
2) Thematic studies based around Christianity and Islam (50%);
Theme A: Relationships and families
Theme B: Religion and life.
Theme C: The existence of God & revelation
Theme D: Religion, peace & conflict
