Taawon
Taawon, also known as the Welfare Association, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and refugee camps. Its mission focuses on improving the quality of life and fostering sustainable development in Palestinian communities. In recent months, Taawon has been actively engaged in providing critical support and relief efforts in Gaza, particularly in response to ongoing humanitarian needs and crises.
Taawon has been providing humanitarian aid to over 500,000 displaced individuals in Gaza. Their initiatives include distributing food, water, clothing, and blankets, as well as medical supplies and fuel for hospitals. They have also supported essential healthcare services and provided hot meals, hygiene kits, and shelter. Taawon’s “Gaza’s Orphan Care Program” supports 20,000 children orphaned by recent conflicts in Gaza. The program provides comprehensive services, including education, healthcare, food, clothing, social welfare, and psychological support. Since 2009, Taawon has assisted 4,261 orphans in Gaza, helping them access essential needs and a brighter future. The Sameer Project
The Sameer Project (@TheSameerProject) is a Palestinian-led donations based aid initiative that has sent over £595,000 in the form of tents, medical and cash aid, and general emergency assistance to displaced families in Gaza since December 2023. The Sameer Project offers a very unique opportunity for you to directly impact families and save lives. They assure that 100% of every donation is spent on facilitating assistance in Gaza. All team members in the diaspora work tirelessly on a volunteer basis, meaning no overhead costs or administrative fees. They do pay their team in Gaza a stipend as they are in the same situation as the families they serve.
The “Sameer Abu Salim Tent Initiative” (named after one of our team member’s martyred father) was formed to source, purchase, and distribute tents, essential medication, medical care and cash envelopes throughout Gaza, to allow families the independence and agency to secure the specific aid they require for themselves. Everything they need to build a functioning tent encampment – all raw construction materials, water and bathroom units, tents, solar panels, ovens and fuel – is sourced within Gaza since no aid is being allowed to cross the borders. Availability of supplies and pricing is completely dictated by the circumstances. The team has been successful in building a network of merchants, vendors, and businesses to best supply their Gaza projects.
