The event marks one hundred years when His Holiness Hazrat Mirza
Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (may Allah be pleased with him), the Second
Caliph (Spiritual Leader) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, embarked on
an historic tour from India to the UK. It was the first time that a Caliph of the
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community had come to the UK.
As part of that tour His Holiness delivered a keynote address at the Conference
of Some Living Religions in the Empire in London and, on 19 October 1924, he
laid the foundation stone for the Fazl Mosque – the first mosque in London.
Ever since that visit The Fazl Mosque (also known as The London Mosque)
and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK have played a pivotal role in
promoting Islam’s message of peace and the need to strengthen one’s link with
God and to serve humanity. This was the essence of Islam as revived by the
founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad
(peace be upon him).
