Jihad & Tawhid: Da’esh’s Fight to Establish the Divinity of Allah

This seminar explores Da’esh’s theological proposition regarding the centrality of war and conflict in the reality of Islam. It adopts a socio-theological approach to examine the assertion that military jihad is necessary in establishing Allah’s absolute divinity in the material world.

Widening participation in Higher Education through Police Apprenticeships and Technology-Enhanced Learning: A case study from the Institute of Policing.

Police Education and Training in England and Wales has been a contentious subject for debate in recent years, particularly following on from the implementation of the Police Education Framework Qualifications programmes as entry-routes in policing. Staffordshire University’s Institute of Policing (IoP) is one of the first and largest Higher Education providers of these programmes and has been leading in England and Wales on this front. The IoP utilises a unique delivery model where a significant portion of the programme is delivered through digitally-enabled means. This seminar explores the IoP’s provisions from a widening participation perspective and will share insights of the student officer experience based on initial findings from longitudinal surveys deployed routinely on the programmes.
