Shaykh Dr Salah Abu’l Haj

Shaykh Dr Salah Abul Hajj was born in Amman, Jordan, and his initial studies occurred at the College of Daʿwa & Usul al-Din at al-Balqa Applied University where he also gained his bachelor’s degree in 1997. He then attained a master’s degree in Islamic Law at the University of Baghdad in 1999 during which he wrote a detailed thesis on Imam al-Laknawi and his methodology in Fiqh which gained wide acclaim and was later published. At the same university in 2002, he completed his PhD in which he researched and verified a manuscript of Sharh al-Wiqaya, an important and monumental work in the Hanafi school.

During his time in Baghdad, Dr Salah also had the privilege of studying a traditional curriculum with many of the leading scholars of Iraq. His teachers included Shaykh Bakr al-Mawṣili, Shaykh Qasim al-Ṭa’ī, Shaykh Sajid Abdul Qadir, Shaykh Mawlud al-Turki, Shaykh Muhammad Ramaḍan al-Kurdi and Shaykh Abdul-Malik al-Saʿdi. He was authorised to teach and received his sanad in Fiqh and the Islamic Sciences from Shaykh Qasim al-Ṭa’ī in 2005.

Dr Salah’s passion for knowledge and exceptional intelligence has made him one of the most respected and widely recognised scholars in the field of Hanafi Fiqh and Usul. He has published many important works in the Hanafi school and has numerous, articles, research papers, and manuscript verifications. Some of his most important works include Minnat al-Fattah, a commentary on Maraqi al-Falah, al-Madkhal ila al-Fiqh al-Hanafi, Masar al-Wusul ila ʿIlm al-Uṣul, Ghayat al-ʿInaya ʿala ʿUmdat al-Riʿaya and Isʿād al-Mufti ʿala Sharh ʿUqud Rasm al-Mufti.
